If you have an account on Dropbox you can manage your passwords for free beginning next month with the Dropbox Basic. Dropbox has announced it will launch a free password manager in April, while LastPass’ free offering is changing today.
Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and pay the subscription. The password manager industry is going through some changes. The latter functionality has been coming for 3 years, and is supposed to be in v6.īitwarden comes recommended by the techie users on The Register, so I think that I might have a trial of that. I can't recommend the software in this version as there is no password generator, nor is there a plugin for Firefox or Safari. I paid for mSecure version 5 before I even downloaded it (about £17). Luckily I got it sorted out but decided to have a backup plan. I had a problem getting 1Password set up, entirely through my own ineptitude, and thought that I was going to have to go to 1Password v7.
I have just moved to a Mac laptop with an M1 chip, and spent a while installing (clean install) apps to it rather than using the migration assistant and bring across all the dross that I have been carting around since the PowerPC chip. Whilst I have no problem paying for software, I don't want to be paying monthly/yearly for it.
I am still on version 6.x The latest version is the subscription only v7.x I avoid subscription software like the plague.
